Fund Report February 2006THE ASANOR ENDOWMENT FUND FEBRUARY 2006 REPORT
Emily Dickinson’s Dazzling Report on the ASANOR Endowment Fund (But Don’t Tell)
‘Hope’ is the thing with feathers, I once wrote. Deary dirndl, this is the first time I’ve thought about the whole bird. I’ll keep this Sabbath by counting the seeds.
To tell all the truth, and to tell it straight: As of February 12th, The ASANOR Endowment Fund’s assets are NOK 922,077.In the 18 weeks since the last report, the Fund has increased from NOK 875,276, a gain of NOK 46,801 or 5.3% .Dreams are well, but waking’s better. Counting grants awarded since the last report, our real increase is 6.6% in this relatively short period.
Don’t tell this, because we don’t have our million in the bank - yet.NOK 922,077 plus awards granted of NOK 97,543 means the EF has reached one million:NOK 1,101,962. Dazzle gradually, or everyone will be blind because our objective is one million in current assets.
One investment has been made since the last report: NOK 10,000 in Nordea’s Japan (when the Nikkei’s big dip provided a buying opportunity). The pedigree of the honey does not concern the bee.
The soul selects her own society. For the first time in many years, the Fund is sending solicitations along with the annual dues notice to ASANOR members who have not yet attained the NOK 1.000 level.
Our investment patience has been suitably rewarded and will prevail. Still there comes a warning like a spy. By the nature of the market, we cannot always show a gain. If I could stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain.
Gentle greetings from Amherst,
Emily
